Get There

Milan's International Airport (MXP) is the closest airport to Lake Como. It's about 45 minutes to an hour away by car, or just over an hour by train.

The closest train stop is Como San Giovanni which is served from Milan's Stazione Centrale. Further details about timetables and price on www.trenitalia.com. There is not a train system that can be used to get around the Lake Como area.

Milano Centrale train station can be reached from Milano Malpensa as follows:

• Train: Malpensa Express train stops at Malpensa Terminal 1 and Malpensa terminal 2. The journey lasts about 50 minutes and departs every 30 minutes. Further information is available on www.malpensaexpress.it
• Bus: Shuttles connecting Malpensa Airport to the train station Milano Centrale, and vice versa, depart from the platform in front of the arrivals every 30 minutes.The journey lasts about 50 minutes. To reach Milano Malpensa from Milano Centrale, the same services are available just outside of the train station.
• Taxis and Uber: it is available also a taxi service and the average price is Euro 130/150, per way. Taxi docks at Milano Malpensa are at “arrivals", ground floor, exit gate 6 at Terminal 1 e exit gate 4 at Terminal 2. The same service is available outside of the Milano Centrale train station. Uber is available at Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP). In Italy, the service operates primarily through premium options such as Uber Black or licensed chauffeur-driven vehicles (NCC), and it differs from the standard taxi service commonly found in other countries.The cost can vary considerably and is generally higher than that of a regular taxi. • Car rental: If you have time and wish to explore more, having a rental car is extremely helpful, but be prepared for summer traffic and narrow roads. • Jump on a Ferry: The best way to experience Lake Como is by water, and there are several ferry terminals in the area! You can take the ferry up and down the lake, stopping in as many towns as you’d like, just be sure to check the schedule on the website https://www.navigazionelaghi.it.
  Ferries to Como run frequently, and from Como, you can board high-speed ferries to Bellagio, Menaggio, and Varenna. Both one-way tickets and day passes are available.
• Taxis & Uber: Taxi service is available only in the city of Como. In the smaller villages, taxis are scarce and usually operated by local drivers. Evening service is very limited also in Como. If you need a ride late in the evening or during the night, we recommend arranging a taxi in advance through your hotel reception, or calling Taxi Como (+ 39 031 271000).
